A Legacy of Service

Founded in 1928, Carnegie has been built on family values, a passion for foodservice, and a relentless commitment to customer success. What started as a small Altoona storefront is now one of the region’s most trusted partners for foodservice equipment, supplies, and consulting.

1925

George “Carnegie” Ferris founded National Plate Glass to serve Altoona retailers. His generosity toward the community earned him the nickname “Carnegie.”

1928

The company expanded into bar and restaurant supply and adopted the name Carnegie Equipment.

1964

George C. Ferris joined the business, representing the second generation.

1992

George C. Ferris II, grandson of the founder, entered the company as the third generation.

1997

Following the passing of “Carnegie,” George C. Ferris became President, carrying forward the family legacy.

2015

A new showroom and warehouse opened, complete with a test kitchen and an expanded product selection. George C. Ferris II becomes President, building on tradition with a vision for future success.

Today

Carnegie is the leading supplier of foodservice equipment and supplies, serving Central PA and beyond.
